A star is born

Where do I even begin?? This past Wednesday, I went to see A star is born, the new movie starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Aside from the fact that I was already biased since I looove Lady Gaga, and that Bradley Cooper is an outstanding actor, the movie was G-R-E-A-T!!

My eyes were sweating so much, you would have thought I lost someone; but that’s just how beautiful the film was.

A Star Is Born being so awesome, I decided to make a list of 4 reasons why we should all go see it ASAP! (I’ll do my best not to give any spoilers, I promise.)

1. A connection between two people like we rarely see it…

Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper), a successful singer meets Ally (Lady Gaga), a woman trying to keep her head above water and just about to give up on her passion. The way they connect to each other is not what we usually see in movies. Their bond is not one of “Ooh you’re so pretty and fun, I wanna make you my wife”, and her responding: “OMG, you think so? You’re so handsome too, I wanna have all your babies..yaay let’s do this!” Lol, it looks nothing like that.

It’s rather two people deeply loving each other when life isn’t all that great. It even reminded me of one of my favourite quotes:

“We like because (…), and we love despite (…)!”

If you’re a hopeless romantic like me, go see it. If you’re not…still go see it, voilà!

2. A story about keeping faith and hope…

I loved “A star is Born” because the movie talked about the rejection that we all go through while pursuing our dreams. These rejections are not always based on things we have control over. Heck, if they were, they wouldn’t hurt so much. For instance, if you can’t find a publisher for a book you’ve written because the book is actually trash, well, that’s only fair. However, if it’s because of the way you look that might sting a little. Although it’s a cliché saying, hard work really pays off, you just gotta keep the “working” part active and not give up, even when it’s tempting. Remember, it only takes one person to take a chance on you.

 3. A display of Strength and Kindness…

Most times when we think about strength, we think about The Incredible Hulk or people like him that can destroy any type of adversity they’re met with. However, sometimes, strength just means you can keep a cool head and power through hardships. Ally is such a patient person and, my God, her heart is just out of this world. I loved the way she expressed herself: clearly and firmly, yet with so much grace and kindness. I want to be like her when I grow up.

4. Mental health, mental health, mental health, mental health…

Will we ever talk enough about mental health?? There are so many things I loved about this movie, but I have to say talking about one of the mental illnesses, was a highlight for me. It’s important to understand that people don’t stay addicted to substances because they love these so much. It’s a DISEASE that needs to be treated and not judged. It is OKAY to ask and look for help, in fact it is NECESSARY, okrr?!

Side note: It really is Bradley Cooper singing in the movie and yes, new Gaga Ft Cooper Album is amazing!

That is all I had guys, thank you again for stopping by, I really do appreciate all of you who take the time to read me and comment. Much love to you!

I hope you go see the movie as I think it’s an award winning one (mark my words), and come back here to share your perspective.

Stay awesome people,

Gaëlla Ariella
