Ce n’est qu’un au revoir…

Bonjour/Hi,

Long time no read huh..

It’s the end of an era! In less than a month, I’ll be leaving the beautiful city of Montreal that partly raised me. My feelings are mixed, bittersweet as they say. Starting a new life all over again in a new city? Not my adrenaline fix! However, I get to live my dream: going to law school, something that I’ve wanted for as long as I can remember (yay me); so, it’s only right I would write a “Visit Montreal” article as an homage to this city.

Premièrement, peut-on jamais parler de Montréal sans parler du Vieux-Port? Le vieux Montréal à lui seul est à couper le souffle, un mariage parfait du style européen et américain. Le fleuve, la vue, les balades à pieds, les marchands de rue, les concerts et j’en passe, font du Vieux-Port et du Vieux Montréal un site touristique incontournable et ce, été comme hiver. Si vous ne faites pas un tour dans le « Bateau Mouche », si vous ne faites pas de « Zip line », si vous ne voyez pas de policier sur cheval ou à vélo, avez-vous vraiment été au Vieux-Port?

Secondly, we’ve got to talk about food! Although, I wouldn’t call myself a “foodie” per se, I think food should always reveal a part of your soul you never knew existed before (exaggerating? just a bit). If you’re in Montreal and genuinely enjoy good food, you should absolutely try these restaurants:

-Grinder for steak.

-Bar George for brunch (but really any meal..)

– Le Virunga for African food.

-Les Enfants Terribles for the amazing view ( the food is average, though.)

– L’avenue for brunch ( yes, I’m a brunch type of girl..)

Aah le Mont royal, magnifique pour sa vue! Toutefois, vous aurez compris que vous n’êtes pas les seuls à aimer une belle vue ni de belles photos. Si pendant votre séjour, il vous prend comme une soudaine envie de voir tous les montréalais à Montréal, et bah vous y serez servis . Bien que je ne porte pas particulièrement le Mont-royal dans mon cœur, je pense quand même qu’il mérite au moins une visite. Y aller le soir quand il fait frais et quand les lumières de Montréal sont allumées est une idée encore meilleure.

If you don’t do anything else while in Montreal during the summer time (But why would you visit in winter, do you hate yourself?), go to La Ronde. La Ronde is an attraction park with tons of crazy roller coasters and they’ll definitely make you go through every emotion, from wishing you were dead to feeling more lively than ever.

At this point, your brain is probably dizzy from reading this post, but note that it was written in true Montreal-an fashion. You are never warned when languages switch. Sometimes, you even go from French to English in the same sentence. Although it might be confusing at first, it’s also what makes this city so beautiful.  Anybody can live here, whether you’re a French or English speaker. It doesn’t matter what part of the world you’re coming from, you’ll get here and feel a connection with this city and its people.

While it’s time for me to explore new horizons, I’ll forever be a Montrealer!
